Your DSC token is protected by a PIN. After a limited number of wrong attempts the token locks to protect your private key.
Try these first
- Check the PIN you were given at the time of issue and any default PIN supplied by the token maker.
- Stop after a few attempts so you do not lock the token.
If the token is locked
Some tokens can be unblocked with an administrator or security officer PIN if you set one. If that is not available, the token usually cannot be recovered, because the key is deliberately not retrievable.
What happens to your DSC
If the token cannot be unlocked, the certificate on it cannot be used. You apply for a new DSC and register it on your portals again.
Prevention
Write your PIN somewhere safe, change the default PIN and note the expiry date of your DSC.
