Laptop screen showing a Java blocked security warning during DSC signing

Some older portals and utilities still need Java to run the signing component. When Java's security settings are too strict you get a "Java blocked" or security warning message and the signer never starts.

Steps

  1. Open the Java Control Panel from the Windows Start menu.
  2. Go to the Security tab and choose Edit Site List.
  3. Add the address of the portal you are using to the Exception Site List and save.
  4. Restart the browser, open the portal again and choose Run when prompted.

Good to know

Only add sites you trust, such as the official government portal. If a portal asks for Java, check first whether it also offers a Java-free signer utility, which is the preferred option.
